Welcome!
Hi, my name is San Juanita Gutierrez, though most people know me as Jaynie. I grew up in Chicago—a city where the seasons differ quite a bit from those here in Houston!
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems at the University of Houston (Go COOGS!) while gaining valuable experience on the job. My career was fulfilling, but everything changed when I welcomed my sweet bundle of joy into the world.
Becoming his mother was a blessing, and I cherished nearly a year at home with him before returning to both work and school. During this period, I wrapped up a few courses I needed and started teaching high school math, which opened the door to meaningful relationships with my students.
Many of them began confiding in me, sharing personal traumas they'd never revealed before. This sparked my passion for counseling, leading me back to school to pursue it as my calling. In 2009, I graduated from UHCL, and since then, I’ve devoted myself to work I genuinely love.
I am licensed in Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Additionally, I am a Clinical Certified Trauma Practitioner and a National Certified Counselor. These credentials are important to me and reflect years of dedication.
As a bilingual counselor, I support individuals who face challenges with:
anxiety
depression
trauma
self-esteem
communication
life transitions
change in marital status
empty nesting
adjustments to college or workplace
I love God, I love my son and family, I love my job and I love coffee!
