Cardenas Gutierrez LPC

Welcome!

Hi, my name is San Juanita Gutierrez, but most people call me Jaynie. I was born and raised in the windy city of Chicago—seasons are slightly different than what we experience here in the Houston area!

I obtained my undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Houston (Go COOGS!) while working in the field. I enjoyed my career until one great day I was blessed with my very own sweet bundle of joy.

I was so blessed to become his mom and very fortunate to enjoy almost a full year at home with him before I returned to work and school. At this time, I finished up some courses I lacked and took a job in education as a high school math teacher, to be exact. I absolutely LOVED the relationships I began to build with students!

I realized they were coming to me, opening up and disclosing traumas they had never spoke to anyone else about. That’s when I realized I had to go back to school and pursue counseling; that was my calling. I earned my graduate degree from UHCL in 2009. I have been doing what I LOVE ever since.

I hold licenses in the state of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Clinical Certified Trauma Practitioner, as well as a National Certified Counselor. I value these certifications, as I have worked for many years to acquire them.

I am a counselor who helps those who are struggling with:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • trauma

  • self esteem

  • communication

  • life transitions

    • change in marital status

    • empty nesting

    • adjustments to college or workplace

    • arrival of a new baby

I love God, I love my son and family, I love my job and I love coffee!

A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action becomes reality.
